Hi!

I am a pulmonologist based in Chennai, India.

Through this blog, I would like to reach out to patients, medical professionals, and the generally curious to help spread awareness about the concept of “preventive (care in) pulmonology” which is my pet project, so to speak.

This is not a new concept – prevention has always been the first line of defense in disease management. The line of demarcation between prevention and treatment becomes imperceptible in chronic lung disease – where with treatment, we aim at preventing deterioration. It is with diseases like lung cancer and infections like tuberculosis that preventive pulmonology assumes significance.

It would be so much easier if we had a solution at the beginnings – or at least at the earliest. That might be wistful thinking, considering the inroads we have to make, especially in the mindset of patients and providers alike.

I would like to, at the very least, make an attempt.
